Tuesday night's rain and Wednesday's 50+ degree F temperatures took care of the snow, but the watch. . .ah, now there's a story.

Remember my washing machine theory? Since propounding it, I have done several washes, with no sign of the missing watch. This morning, I was removing a wash on the way to the dryer--a wash whose few pocket-bearing pieces of clothing I had carefully checked--and suddenly, there was a rattle, and out from under agitator rolled the watch.

That's Timex--takes a licking and goes on ticking. But where was it all this time? There's not a scratch on it,and the strap looks good as new.  Better. And yes, though it was ticking, it was 10 minutes slow. I corrected it, and it's kept accurate time since then.

Clearly, it's been in another dimension, one where watches are running just a bit slower than here, or under the hill, and years have passed. Too bad it doesn't do day and date. . .but anyway, it's back.
